Despite having no family around on Sundays, it has been nice to spend the afternoon reading, watching movies, and going for walks through the neighborhood. Behind our place, there is a jogging path that follows a river through the neighborhood. Today we walked a few miles, and Piper loved it. All the leaves were yellow, and the apple trees were overflowing! In fact, Piper saw a lady with her little dog, and she HAD to go see the puppy. As we talked to the lady, we told her that the apples were pretty, to which she BEGGED us to take a bunch. (they don't know what to do with them all!) So we took a bag full, and went on our way! ( the lady took our name and number, because she said her husband was a hunter, and that they own a bunch of land that C.J. could hunt on!) We ran home, and decided to make a bunch of bread and an apple crisp! The apples are delicious....fresh, a little tart, ...perfect for dessert. Here is how we faired!

jogging paths, leaves turning colors, neighbors giving away apples from their tree... sounds pretty dreamy :)
that bread look amazing!!! i hope you had some of helen's peach jam to eat with it! and apple crisp with fresh apples... my mouth is watering!! {you should make up a bunch of filling & freeze it while those apples are still around!}
